The session will discuss broad indications for a genetics referral with a brief review of inheritance patterns and genetic testing modalities. Additionally, it will provide updates on specific genetic diagnoses with advancements in pharmacologic management.

Willow Sheehan graduated with her doctorate of nursing practice from MSU Bozeman in 2018. In August of 2019 she took a position as a genetics nurse practitioner with Shodair Genetics Clinic receiving on-site genetics specialty training and on the job mentorship and training. In her role at Shodair, Dr. Sheehan evaluates individuals across the lifespan with suspected genetic conditions. Her work includes ordering and interpreting genetic tests and other diagnostic studies to aide in identifying genetic conditions in individuals and families. Furthermore, she collaborate with multiple care providers and support systems across the state and region to provide long term clinical follow up and management for individuals and families with heritable disorders. Dr. Sheehan and the Shodair Genetics team serve communities throughout the state of Montana by in-person, tele-health, and outreach clinics.
